You might want to skip these types of food!

Wrinkles – we’ll all get them eventually. There is no denying that. But there is a difference in how many wrinkles we get and when we get them. If you want to slow down the aging process, there are some foods that you might want to avoid.

1. Refined sugar

The worst news first: foods like candy, cookies and soda can cause wrinkles. According to dermatologists, sugar is even one of the biggest contributors to wrinkles. And that is because sugar damages collagen fibers. Collagen is an important protein in your skin that helps your skin stay flexible and strong. If your collagen levels are low, your skin will start to wrinkle. That is why, if you want to keep wrinkles away, you might want to steer clear of sugar.

2. Dairy

Some dairy products contain a lot of saturated fats. And saturated fats cause visible aging of the skin. Dermatologist Dr. Jessica Krant explains to Margriet: “Research shows that the standard Western diet consists of mostly meat and dairy, is high in cholesterol, does not have any fibers in it and makes your skin age faster.”

3. Processed meats

Do you love bacon, salami or sausages? Then you might want to overthink your food decisions. Especially if you want to keep your skin wrinkle-free. Processed meats are full of sodium, a substance that can cause bags under your eyes. And on top of that, it contains preservatives that cause the collagen levels in your skin to go down. And if your collagen levels go down, your skin will show wrinkles.

So, if you want to keep your skin wrinkle-free, then try and avoid these foods!
