This is how you get rid of that sore throat as quickly as possible

Almost every autumn or winter you get struck by it: a horribly sore throat. Whether it really makes you sick or not, it’s terribly annoying. Tea and honey are popular remedies that you’re probably familiar with. But did you know that there are other food-related remedies that help with a sore throat? We’ve made a list for you so you can try some yourself.

Every food has its qualities.

1. Broth

Just like a steaming hot cup of tea, a nice hot bowl of broth can work wonders for a sore throat. Your nose will be less clogged because of the steam from the broth. Additionally, broth makes a great base for an antibacterial soup. Add some fresh vegetables, garlic, turmeric, and ginger and presto! An anti-inflammatory soup is born.

2. Fruit popsicles

An ice cold popsicle chills your throat and eases your pain immediately. But don’t grap a box of pear-flavoured popsicles! These popsicles contain a lot of sugar, which irritates your throat even more. Get your blender and throw in some different types of fruit, fresh spinach, and grated ginger. Pour this mixture into some popsicle molds and put it in the freezer for a few hours. Your throat will be grateful.

3. Garlic

Garlic contains the substance allicin. This substance has anti-inflammatory properties and kills the bacteria that cause your sore throat. Apart from that, garlic can also help you get rid of a cold. How do you eat it? Finely chop a garlic glove and put it into your broth.

4. Smoothies

Like a popsicle, cold smoothies do a lot of good things for your throat. Do you have a nasty flu? Then you probably don’t feel much like eating. However, it is really important to get sufficient vitamins and minerals into your system in order to get better as soon as possible. A few ingredients are essential in your smoothie when you want to combat a sore throat. Take a large amount of frozen or fresh fruit, oatmeal, fresh ginger, a pinch of turmeric, water or plant-based milk, and ice cubes. Mix them all together and you have a nice smoothie that will help you get better again.
