The future king was only 19 years old when he got his motorcycle license. Ever since then, riding his motorcycle has been one of William’s favourite hobbies. He loves taking his motorbike out for a spin. Now, however, those days are behind him. He has stopped riding his motorbike regularly.

His reason seems pretty solid, though.

Family

The reason why William stopped taking his beloved motorcycle out for rides is his wife and his children. Kate especially didn’t like her husband’s hobby all that much. About two and a half years ago, the Duchess of Cambridge said that William still rode his motorcycle every now and then. “It always fills me with horror when he goes out on it,” Kate said back then. “I’m terrified. Hopefully, I’m going to keep George off it.” William hasn’t completely sworn off his hobby, but he has definitely put it on the back burner.

Relaxation

Back in 2008, William even joined a race on his motorcycle. Together with his brother, prince Harry, he took part in a motor rally through Africa to raise money for several different charities. “I’ve always had a passion for motorbikes ever since I was very small,” William once said. He really enjoys the sport as well. “It does help being anonymous with my motorcycle helmet on because it does enable me to relax.”
