Do you rinse an apple before eating it? Here’s why you shouldn’t

We always used to do this as well…

If you want to eat an apple, you rinse it with tap water or rub it with your sleeve. Pretty much every one of us does this. However, it turns out that this isn’t nearly enough if you want to make sure you don’t ingest any pesticides. There’s only one way to really clean an apple and it isn’t either of the two options we mentioned above.

Luckily, it’s a pretty easy thing to do.

Pesticides

The American Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry published a new study. It shows that apples are the most sprayed type of fruit and that these pesticides can be found on the skin or peel. The pesticide can only be used in very small quantities, but it does definitely stick on the peel and we don’t know what this means for our health in the long term. Luckily, there’s a way to entirely remove these pesticides from your apple because just rinsing it isn’t enough. This method of making your apple pesticide-free is very easy and you don’t have to remove any of the peel.
