Amou Haji, aged 83, lives in a village called Dejgah in the southern Iranian province of Fars. He has not bathed for 65 years. He believes that the dirt strengthens his immune system and that he would get sick if he were to be clean.
The last record of longest time going without showers belonged to a 66-year-old Indian man, Kailash Singh, who had not taken a bath over 38 years. But Amou Haji has broken that record by a long mile. Amou went through some emotional turmoil in his youth and decided he wanted to break apart from society by living an isolated life.
