Beauty product

We’re guessing a lot of people, especially women, already own a can of this beauty product. We’re talking about hair spray! This useful spray is the perfect product to use when you want to remove pills from your clothes. We can’t make it any easier or simpler than this, really.

What do you have to do?

Get a dishcloth and spray a generous amount of hair spray on the cloth from a distance of about 10 centimeters. Use the cloth to rub the spots on your clothes where the pills are concentrated. Usually, the sleeves of an item of clothing are the biggest victims of pilling. Properly rub the cloth with the hairspray on these spots and you will notice that within no time at all the pills will have disappeared completely!

Prevent pilling

Of course, you’ll need to wash your clothes in the future again, which might mean they’ll start to pill once more. Luckily, there are some things you can do to prevent the pills from appearing. If you suspect a piece of clothing might pill, here’s what you can do:

  • Use a gentle cycle on your washing machine; this will protect your clothes. Even better would be to hand wash your clothes, but of course that’s a bit of a chore.
  • Turn the garment you’re washing inside out before putting it in the washing machine. This is smart to do with any type of clothing, because it will make sure your clothes last longer.
  • Sort your clothes. Don’t wash delicate shirts that are likely to pill together with jeans, for example.
  • Don’t overload your washing machine! This is very bad for both your clothes and the machine.
