Do you talk to your pet regularly? It turns out this might be very good for your health

No judgment

“When we think about loneliness, we need attachment figures and pets meet that need. You don’t have to worry about confidentiality or judgement. It just is what it is,” research manager Nancy Gee explains to USA Today. This is the reason why it’s so good for you to talk to your pet now and then. You know it won’t say anything back and that makes it such a pleasant thing. You don’t have to worry about what they will think or say.

Human contact

Talking to your pet also has a few other benefits. More than half of all of the participants said that their pet helps them to make contact with other people. Besides that, 51 per cent of the participant with pets said that they felt they were less shy thanks to their pet. The study showed that owning a pet also increases human contact. You simply feel less lonely due to your cat, dog or rabbit. At the same time, you feel more confident to approach people. We say this is a win-win situation! So, keep on telling your furry (or not so furry) friend about your day and chat away to them. It’s really good for you!
