Those ingrown hairs can be very uncomfortable

When you submit your body to the experience of waxing or shaving on a regular basis, you’ll probably be familiar with ingrown hairs. Even if you only have an ingrown hair very rarely, you know that it can be quite painful and not very pretty either. Luckily, there are ways to prevent and get rid of them.

Do you have ingrown hairs? Then the following tips will definitely help you out.

Prevention

Both waxing and shaving are irritating to your hair follicles. The result? Dead skin cells accumulate around the hair follicle and this causes the hair to be unable to grow any further, which means it becomes ingrown. Do you want to prevent this from happening in the future? Then you should always shave in the direction of the hair growth. Never shave against the grain! Also, never shave on dry skin. When your skin is dry, the hair becomes stiffer and it will be pulled out of your skin by the razor which causes irritation. The hair and follicle will pull into the skin, which in turn increases the risk of an ingrown hair. If you want to make sure you’re even more prepared, you could also scrub your skin before shaving.

These prevention tips are great, but if you already have ingrown hairs you’ll want to know how to get rid of them. Go to the next page to read our tips!
