Logger Cut Open Hollow Tree, Looked Inside and Burst Into Tears!

Marco backed up, his mind racing. The base of the trunk was solid outer wood, meaning whatever was trapped inside had no obvious way in or out. He grabbed his hand-ax and tapped the flat side against the bark, moving upward inch by inch. Thud. Thud. Hollow knock. The sound changed five feet up—the hollow center was largest right there.

Using his powerful chainsaw was out of the question; one slip of the long blade could slice right through whatever was trapped inside. Instead, Marco grabbed a small hand-saw and plastic wedges from his tool belt. Working with painstaking care, he carved a small square outline high above where he thought the creature was standing.

Sweat stung his eyes despite the freezing fog. He tapped a wedge into the cut, prying the outer slab of wood back millimeter by millimeter. The wood gave way with a sharp crack. As he pulled the slab of outer bark free, a heavy draft of cold air rushed out of the dark opening—carrying the distinct, strong smell of damp animal fur.
