Logger Cut Open Hollow Tree, Looked Inside and Burst Into Tears!

Marco pulled his bright LED flashlight from his belt, clicked it on, and aimed the intense white beam down into the dark, hollow tree. He gasped, stepping back a full pace. Staring back up at him through the gloom, blinded by the sudden glare, were two pairs of wide, glowing eyes.

Huddled together at the bottom of the hollow space were two small, shivering black bear cubs. They were pressed so tightly against each other their fur melted into a single black mass. One of them let out a small, chirping squeak, shielding its face from the bright light. Tears welled in Marco's eyes at the sight of the helpless, terrified little creatures.

They were completely unharmed, but utterly terrified. He aimed his light upward into the dark shaft of the tree to figure out how they got in. Twenty feet above, hidden by thick moss, was a jagged hole where a massive branch had torn away years ago. The cubs must have climbed the tree and fallen into the opening, sliding down the slick, rotten interior walls like a chimney—becoming completely trapped at the bottom. But that brought an even more terrifying question: Why were two defenseless cubs climbing high into a dead tree in the first place?
