For most people, seeing an exotic supercar in a movie ends with a simple thought: “One day, maybe.” But for one man, that moment became an obsession that would quietly consume nearly two decades of his life. It all began after watching the 1981 comedy The Cannonball Run. The sleek, wedge-shaped Lamborghini Countach barely spent a few minutes on screen, yet it left an unforgettable impression. From that day forward, Ken couldn’t stop thinking about the car. Unfortunately, owning one was completely out of reach. Even used examples carried eye-watering price tags.
Most people would eventually move on. Ken didn’t. Instead, he came up with an idea so ambitious that almost nobody believed it could be done. If he couldn’t afford a Lamborghini, he’d build one himself. Not a rough imitation. Not a fiberglass kit car. He wanted something so accurate that even die-hard enthusiasts would struggle to tell the difference.
The only problem? He planned to build nearly the entire car by hand… inside his own basement.
