Cat Kept Bringing Home Wet Dollar Bills, Then the Owner Decided to Follow It…

Richard shrank behind the thick trunk of an oak tree, holding his breath. A man in a heavy dark jacket descended the steep embankment from the highway shoulder, stepping straight toward the culvert. The man reached into the dark pipe and hauled out a heavy vinyl bag. As he unzipped it under the grey sky, he let out a sharp, angry curse. The seal had failed; rainwater had seeped into the bag, dissolving the outer wrapping and letting loose bills drift out into the mud.

At that exact second, Max trotted out from the high weeds near the pipe. Entirely unaware of the man, the cat pounced on one of the floating $100 bills, clamping it in his jaws with a victorious shake of his head. The courier turned his flashlight down, catching the cat red-handed.

"Hey! Get back here!" the man yelled, staring in utter disbelief as the animal snatched the loose cash. Swearing loudly, the stranger lunged forward, swiping wildly at the cat in a desperate attempt to grab the money back.
