Keep a piece of chalk in your kitchen from now on

Pieces of chalk make us think of our youths, when the teacher would write exercises on the blackboard or we were making the most elaborate drawings on the streets until the rain washed them away. Perhaps you’ve never again even thought of chalk since your childhood, but we now have a good reason for you to go out and buy a packet of the stuff. It’s perfect to keep around in the kitchen for this handy trick!

Did you know you can also use chalk in the kitchen?

Oil and grease

You might have noticed before that gymnasts and weightlifters use chalk powder to dry their sweaty hands and gain more grip. This same trick works on all kinds of greases and oils. The next time you’ve accidentally gotten a grease stain in your favourite shirt, you can simply remove it with a bit of chalk. How? It’s very simple: just rub a bit of chalk onto the stain! Like talcum powder, it’s extremely absorbent and it’ll remove grease and oil stains in no time at all.

Blackboard chalk

If you want to go out and buy a lifetime supply right away, do keep the following things in mind. First of all, make sure you buy white chalk instead of different colours. Most chalk contains wax or dye, but these will harm your clothes more than they will help them. So, pay close attention to what type of chalk you’re buying. White blackboard chalk is the best thing to buy when it comes to removing stains. Besides that, it’s also important to know that this trick works best on ‘new’ stains. If you discover a grease stain, don’t wait to treat it but do so right away. That’s why it’s smart to keep the chalk in the kitchen; so you’ve got it on hand right when you need it.
