The owner of this house has turned the inside into a true paradise – but not in the way you expect

paradise
The outside of this home reveals nothing about the paradise that’s inside…

Even though this home looks completely normal from the outside, the inside is anything but normal. In fact, the interior of this home is a colourful paradise. And is this paradise meant for the owner of the house? No! It’s a true paradise for his friendly four-legged friends: his cats!

It’s truly incredible what this man has done with the interior of his home.

The story

It might not look like it on the outside, but the inside of this home is a true paradise for cats. While this sounds lovely and sweet, this extraordinary home has a heartwrenching origin story. The owner, Peter Cohen, bought the house in 1988. The house came with two outdoor cats. Cohen got very attached to the two animals quite quickly, but then one day one of the cats was hit by a car and didn’t survive. Not much later, the second cat got hit by a car as well. This second cat did survive the accident, but had to stay at the vet’s for a long  time to undergo several operations.

Catwalks

When the cat had finally recovered and was healthy enough to go back home, Peter Cohen adopted multiple shelter cats to keep the cat company. At this moment, there are 14 cats living in the house: Cheesecake, Chocolate, Nutter, Butter, Crumple, Rumple, Cookie, Puppy Seed, Crudo, Nuye, Secret, Wasabi, Coffeebean and Donut. These new inhabitants were all rescued by Cohen from the animal shelter. To make sure all of these cats had a nice place to live, Peter built a ton of balustrades and walkways, which he called ‘catwalks’, that cost about 40,000 to 50,000 dollar in total.
