Boaters Spot Something Disturbing in A Lake — Call Police After Seeing What It Is…

Jenna’s phone finally gained reliable service nearby, near the mouth of the cove. She called emergency services while Mark held the boat steady. “We found something underwater,” she told the dispatcher. “It is human-sized, covered in dark material, and attached to a line.” The dispatcher asked whether they had touched it. Jenna answered no.

Mark read the coordinates from the screen. The dispatcher instructed them to remain nearby, avoid disturbing the site, and prevent others from entering if they could do so safely. Jenna ended the call and looked toward shore. “They sounded worried.” Mark replied, “They are supposed to take it seriously.” His voice sounded calmer than he felt.

Ten minutes later, another boat headed toward the inlet. Mark moved into its path and waved both arms. The driver slowed, annoyed. “Cove is closed,” Mark shouted. “Emergency crews are coming.” The other boat turned away after an argument. As it left, Jenna noticed a dull flash below the water near the shape. It came from something metallic, perhaps a clasp or cylinder. Before she could point it out, a ranger boat appeared around the headland with blue lights flashing. A second vessel followed, carrying police officers and equipment.
