Ranger Investigates Animals Acting Strange on His Patrol – The Second He Realizes What It Means, He Tells Everyone to Run

Mark pressed his radio button, his voice urgent. "Central, this is Mark. Cancel the predator alert. We have severe atmospheric pressure instability at High Meadow. The barometer is fluctuating wildly." There was a brief pause on the line before the Chief Dispatcher came on personally. "Say again, Mark? Fluctuating?"

"The local pressure is jumping erratically," Mark reported, watching the needle swing again. "The sheep were circling because the pressure pockets were disorienting them. They were trapped in a micro-vortex."

"All units stand by," the Chief's voice came back, tense now. "We just pulled the regional radar. A rapid mesocyclone is forming directly over your sector. A microburst cyclone is touching down on High Ridge within minutes. Mark, evacuate that meadow immediately!" Just as the radio went quiet, a sudden, powerful gust of wind roared through the trees, flattening the grass in the meadow as the sky above rapidly turned a dark, bruised purple.
