Four days later, the camera got its first test. Arthur was sitting at his warehouse desk when his phone buzzed with an alert: MOTION DETECTED - FRONT PORCH. He opened the live video stream. A silver sedan idled near his driveway. A slender figure in a dark gray hoodie walked casually up his front steps, snatched the replacement parcel, and jogged back to the car. The whole theft took seven seconds.
With the footage in hand, Arthur drove straight to the police precinct after his shift. He sat down with Officer Henderson, placing a flash drive onto the desk. "He stole from me again. You can see his face under the hood, along with the getaway car."
Officer Henderson looked at the drive, then let out a slow sigh. "Mr. Russell, without a clear license plate or a suspect match in our database, we can't open an active investigation for low-value misdemeanor theft. It’ll take us some time before we can get to it."
