Park Ranger Finds Massive Nest In Forest, Then He Looks Inside

He swept his flashlight over the forest floor, expecting to find a smoldering trash fire or blackened stones. The moss beneath his boots was completely undisturbed. Brian took another step, the acrid smell growing stronger, and angled his beam upward into the canopy.

High above, wedged tightly between the trunks of three massive pine trees, sat a massive, dark anomaly. At first, Brian assumed it was a deadfall caught in the branches. But as he adjusted his light, the silhouette grew increasingly terrifying. It was roughly forty feet up, dense, square, and enormous.

Thousands of saplings, thick branches, and heavy vines had been woven together into a tight, solid mass, camouflaged with mud. It defied logic. No standard treehouse looked like this, and no hiker possessed the means to hoist that much raw timber forty feet into the air. He stood at the base of the central trunk in the pitch black, his chest tightening with unease.
