Unwinding in the dimly lit living area an hour later, David suddenly froze in place. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught a strange shadow sweeping across the interior wall—a low silhouette moving slowly on all fours right outside the main villa window.
He frowned to himself, assuming it was just a stray camp dog or a small scavenger wandering near the guest cabins. Curious, he crept softly toward the front window and peered out through the wooden blinds into the pale moonlight outside.
His breath caught sharply in his throat. Moving through the manicured garden was the exact same lion, crouching low to the dirt and slowly approaching their specific villa structure. Against all odds, the massive predator had somehow tracked their exact vehicle scent all the way out of the wild savannah and straight into the populated civilian area.
