Truck Driver Heard Strange Sounds From Fuel Tank, Gut Told Him to Cut it Open

While Marcus sat handcuffed on the gravel shoulder, shivering from both the cold and panic, Vance pulled a long, flexible steel claw tool and a pair of heavy rubber gloves from his cruiser's trunk. Returning to the secondary tank, the officer aimed his flashlight down the fill neck and used the spring-loaded grabber to hook the thick plastic wrapping of the submerged packages. One by one, he pulled the heavy, dripping bundles up through the opening, pausing to let the excess diesel drain back into the tank before pulling them clear.

Each package was heavy and wrapped tightly in waterproof plastic. Vance carried them back to his patrol car, placing them directly onto the front passenger seat. Marcus watched every movement through tear-filled eyes, desperately trying to figure out how someone could have stuffed packages into his fuel tank without him noticing.

He replayed every fuel stop, every diner, and every rest area from the past week in his head, but nothing made sense. He was completely at the mercy of a situation he couldn't comprehend. Suddenly, the low rumble of an engine stopped right behind the trooper's car, as a shadowy SUV cut its fog lights and came to a halt in the dark.
