The two police officers looked at each other, then back at Nicole, their expressions completely blank. The lead officer shrugged slightly, gesturing toward Sam. “Ma’am, the passenger is completely clear on our end. There is no reason to hold him.”
Nicole let out a sharp, cynical laugh, her professional composure completely breaking. “Of course he is,” she scoffed, crossing her arms tightly. “Even after everything he did to those poor families, he still gets to walk away completely free.” Sam and the two officers exchanged a deeply confused look. The station manager stepped forward, scratching his head in complete bafflement. “Nicole, what on earth do you mean by that? Walk away free from what?”
“From his crimes!” Nicole shouted, pointing an accusing finger at Sam. “This is the bank fraud guy from Wall Street! The executive who scammed thousands of elderly people out of their life savings and got away with it on a legal loophole. I saw his face on the news!”
