Before Min-ho could make a decision, the thick sea fog suddenly began to lift under the midday sun. The heavy gray mist melted away, rolling back like a curtain to reveal their surroundings. Min-ho instantly slammed the engine into neutral. The boat drifted to a slow, idling halt.
They weren’t in the open ocean anymore. Rising steeply from the foaming water just a few hundred yards ahead was a grim, dark, and completely unfamiliar coastline of jagged, rocky islands. The black rocks looked sharp and hostile, completely devoid of any civilian life. The two friends stood entirely frozen, staring at the strange land.
“Where are we?” Jun whispered, his voice cracking as he looked around the silent, rocky cove. “Min-ho, we are completely lost. We followed that screen blindly for miles.” Min-ho stared at the empty horizon, a deep knot of panic forming in his stomach. They were entirely disconnected from the world, floating near a dangerous, unknown shore.
