Suddenly, the green dot on the screen made a sharp, incredibly violent turn. Even though the surface of the sea looked completely calm and flat under the fog, a massive, silent underwater wave hit the boat.
Without warning, the vessel rocked violently to one side, throwing Jun hard against the wooden bait boxes. Heavy tools slid loudly across the floor, and the ship’s old timbers groaned under the sudden, immense pressure. “What on earth was that?” Jun shouted, holding his bruised arm as he scrambled back to his feet. “Did we hit a reef?”
“No, the water is deep here!” Min-ho yelled back, his eyebrows knitting together in deep confusion. Jun stared at the screen as the dot darted away again. “Min-ho, this doesn’t make sense. The fish are turning so hard they are creating a wake beneath us. No school of mackerel has that kind of physical mass. Something is wrong.” Min-ho gripped the wheel, his stubbornness turning into a cold sweat. He refused to give up on the only catch of the season.
