"What on earth is going on here?" Detective Vance muttered, looking down at the heavy vinyl cash bag the courier had dropped near the patio steps. "We’ve been tracking a GPS beacon hidden inside that drop bag from our surveillance van. We followed it right to your backyard." Vance turned his flashlight straight onto Richard.
"You're both going to the station. I want to know why a cartel cash courier is tackling a homeowner in his own yard with forty grand lying on the grass." An hour later, Richard sat in a cold interrogation room under buzzing lights, mud still caked on his clothes. "Look," Richard pleaded, resting his cuffed hands on the metal table.
"I have no idea who that guy is! He chased my cat out of the woods! My cat has been bringing wet $100 bills home through his pet door for a week straight because he treats them like a chew toy!" Detective Vance stared at him, unblinking. "A cat? You expect me to believe a house cat stole cash off a federal sting drop?" "Check my security cameras!" Richard blurted out. "There's a camera right above the kitchen door!"
