He Ended up Missing During Rescue Operation — Then Alarming Discovery at His Camp Changed Everything

Reaching Mia took an hour. Rescuers rigged a rope across the gorge and guided her along a narrow shelf toward Tom. She was exhausted and dehydrated, but she could walk. Her lips were cracked from the cold nights, and one sleeve was torn where she had crawled beneath a fallen trunk seeking shelter during the worst rain. Before drinking, she kept asking about Oliver. He had found her yesterday and given her most of his food before seeking a higher route.

Mia explained. On her first day, she followed a wide trail where the marked path curved around fallen trees. She did not realize it was a logging road. Hours later, she turned back, but rain loosened the hillside. The route collapsed behind her. Her phone had no signal, leaving only her whistle.

Oliver heard it days later while tracing the road. He crossed the gorge and promised Mia help. While returning, the muddy bank gave way beneath him. He slid onto a lower ledge and could not climb out. Mia answered his whistles through the night, so he knew she was there. Then Tom heard Oliver whistle again, followed by a sharp crack from upstream. The ledge beneath him was moving.
