Woman Finds Strange Eggs In Attic – When Expert Sees It, She Turns Pale

The eggs also brought back another memory. Leah had been twelve when a stranger appeared at Evelyn’s door one summer afternoon. He carried binoculars and claimed he was looking for a rare bird that had been seen nearby. He kept asking where nests had been found. Evelyn became angry and told him to leave. Leah had never seen her grandmother speak to a visitor that way before.

Later, Evelyn explained why. Some people watched rare birds because they loved them, she said. Others watched them because there was money to be made. Eggs could be stolen from nests and sold to collectors. Leah had found the idea strange at the time. Who would pay money for an egg? Evelyn had simply told her, “People will pay a great deal for anything they are not supposed to have.”

Back in the attic, Leah searched through several of Evelyn’s bird guides. She could not find anything that matched the six eggs. Then she noticed something beneath the insulated box. She lifted one side carefully and pulled out a folded luggage label. An airport code was printed across it, along with a date from only four days earlier. Leah looked from the label to the eggs. They had not come from the woods around Evelyn’s house. Someone had brought them from much farther away.
