The Jaguar was uncovered in the former home of the Oomske chip shop in Kessel-Lo, which Rentmeesters was clearing at the request of a real estate agent. “The garage was completely packed, and while cleaning it out, we discovered a pit beneath the floor. Old houses often have pits for car repairs. But this time, there was an entire car inside.”
Rentmeesters now intends to restore the vehicle. “Cars like this sell for between €15,000 and €20,000. Fully restored with the original engine, they can fetch up to €60,000. But for me, it’s not about the money. Some things you simply can’t let go of—and this is one of them. The discovery itself is worth more than the price tag.”
