Zip tie hacks: 9 reasons to always have zip ties on hand

6. Protect your lighter

Do you ever just chuck your cigarette lighter into your bag? There’s always a chance it will ignite because your bag moves or because there are other items on top of it. If your lighter doesn’t have a lock to prevent this from happening, you can use a zip tie. Wrap this around the lighter, directly underneath the igniter. This way, the igniter can’t be pushed down and your lighter won’t ignite out of nowhere.

7. Fix your zipper

Has the tab of your zipper broken off, but is the zipper itself still fine? Then you can easily fashion a new tab with a zip tie. String a zip tie through the hole of the zipper and create a little ring that will make you be able to open and close your zipper.

8. Hang your shower curtain

Got a shower curtain but no rings to hang them with? Use zip ties instead!

9. Don’t burn your fingers

Do your pots and pans have metal handles and are you always messing about with pot holders or tea towels to avoid getting burned? Simply zip a zip tie around the handle and lift the lid with that.
