6 surprising things you can use sandpaper for around the house

4. Get rid of sweater pills

You know how sweaters start to pill after you’ve put them through the washing machine a couple of times? It can make a perfectly good sweater look really old and untidy, which is just a shame. This is easily fixed, though, and all you need is (you guessed it) a piece of sandpaper. Lightly rub your sweater with the sandpaper (in one direction only) and you’ll remove all of the fuzzy pills. Your sweater will look as good as new!

5. Sharpen scissors

If you’ve got a pair of scissors that’s gotten a little dull, sandpaper is your friend. After years of crafts and cutting, scissors can get dull or have all kinds of residue stuck to it. Simply cutting through a piece of sandpaper a few times will get rid of any residue and it will also sharpen the scissors.

6. Restore suede

Have you gotten some stains or marks on your suede shoes? You might think them ruined, but that’s not the case at all. Get out a piece of sandpaper and use it to lightly sand away the stains. Be careful when you start and check your progress as you go along. You don’t want to ruin your shoes! This also works on other suede items.
