Just beyond the flower beds sat one of her favorite gardening projects. This time, the tire wasn’t filled with colorful flowers. Instead, it had become a compact planter for herbs and vegetables. She explained that keeping herbs contained in one spot made them much easier to water, maintain, and harvest throughout the growing season. The raised edges also helped prevent soil from washing away during heavy rain while giving each plant its own dedicated space.
It was another reminder that useful garden projects don’t always require expensive materials. Sometimes they simply require looking at everyday objects a little differently. She laughed as she admitted that many of her neighbors initially questioned why she kept collecting old tires. Now, those same neighbors regularly ask how she made her planters look so attractive. But the herb garden wasn’t the project that impressed visitors the most.
She saved one of her most creative ideas for the patio, where another worn-out tire had been transformed into something that almost nobody recognized at first glance.
