One of the biggest challenges she faced was adding more color to her garden without spending a fortune on decorative planters. Buying large pots for flowers can become surprisingly expensive, especially when you’re trying to fill several areas around your yard. Instead of heading to the garden center, she looked at the pile of old tires sitting in the corner of her property. After giving one a thorough cleaning, she painted it in a bright color that complemented the flowers she planned to grow. Once it had dried, she filled it with soil and planted a mix of colorful blooms.
The result was simple but surprisingly effective. The raised planter added height, helped define the space, and instantly became one of the first things visitors noticed when they entered the garden. Best of all, it gave a tire that would have been thrown away a completely new purpose. But flowers weren’t the only thing she wanted to grow. As we walked farther into the garden, she showed us another project that turned an old tire into something even more practical.
