Why An Innocent Habit Could Be Increasing Your Chances Of Getting Dementia

Longer naps

The researchers found that the older the senior citizens became, the more frequent – and longer – their naps got. The elderly that took longer and more frequent naps throughout the day appeared to have worse cognitive functions a year later. Their memory had gotten worse and they had more difficulty with perception, concentration, orientation, and language use.

Diet

Throughout the years there have been numerous researches to study habits that could be associated with dementia. In 2021, another study showed that a Mediterranean diet reduced the chance of dementia. This diet consists of a few guidelines. Following any one of these guidelines, according to the researchers, would mean a year less of ageing cognitive function. This includes the importance of eating lots of fruits and vegetables. The diet also consists of eating seafood, whole wheat products, and unsaturated fat.
