5. Plants Arranger
Linda liked artificial plants because they added a little greenery without demanding much attention. The trouble was arranging them. Tall stems shifted around inside large decorative pots, and small sprigs on her bookshelves leaned whichever way gravity chose. She had tried stuffing containers with paper and other odds and ends, but nothing held the stems exactly where she wanted them. Pool noodle scraps worked surprisingly well.
For a large planter, Linda cut several pieces of noodle and placed them inside as lightweight filler. She could then push artificial stems into the foam and space them neatly without filling the whole pot with something heavy. The same idea worked on a smaller scale. Short pieces of noodle fitted inside little pots, jars, or baskets on her bookshelves, giving smaller artificial stems something soft but firm to grip.
The benefit is not just appearance. Large decorative pots stay lighter and easier to move, which matters if you like changing a room around occasionally. Smaller displays are also easier to adjust because each stem can be repositioned on its own. Linda soon found herself saving every leftover piece of foam. Even a short offcut could become a useful support inside a small container.
