3. Lightweight Draft Stopper
One of Linda's back doors had a narrow gap underneath it, just large enough to let in a steady ribbon of cold air during cooler months. She had tried the usual rolled towel, but it never stayed put. Every time somebody opened the door, the towel moved, and sooner or later she had to bend down and push it back into place again.
A pool noodle offered a neater solution. Linda cut a piece to match the width of the door, covered it with old fabric, and positioned it along the bottom edge so it could move with the door instead of sitting loose on the floor. The soft foam filled much of the gap, while the fabric made it look less like something borrowed from a swimming pool. Best of all, she was not constantly repositioning it.
The exact way you attach the noodle will depend on the door, so always check that nothing interferes with opening, closing, or the threshold. The goal is simply to reduce a bothersome draft, not to create an obstacle. For Linda, the biggest improvement was convenience. One small fix meant fewer chilly ankles and one less reason to crouch beside the door every day.
