towels

Use this trick to make sure your towels are fluffy and soft again!

It can be a pretty big bummer when you grab a clean towel after a nice shower and find out it’s all rough and scratchy. You’re practically rubbing off your skin when you dry yourself with a rough towel like that. It feels like sandpaper! So, how come your towels lose their fluffiness so soon and start to feel hard? It has something to do with skin flakes and soap no being completely rinsed away during washing.

There’s an easy way to fix it, though!

Minerals

Apart from the skin flakes and soap, minerals in the water you use to wash the towels with can also cause them to lose their fluffiness. This is a pity, because after having a relaxing shower or bath you just want a nice, soft towel! Luckily, you don’t have to throw out your rough towels straight away, because there’s a very easy trick to make sure they no longer feel like sandpaper.

Temperature

First of all, it’s always a good idea to wash your towels on a high temperature. By doing this, you’ll remove the soap, skin flakes and laundry detergent that make the towel feel so rough and scratchy. You might thinking that adding fabric softener to your laundry will do the trick to make your towels feel soft again (it’s in the name after all), but that’s actually not a very good idea. If you read the packaging properly, you will find that fabric softener contains a ton of substances that aren’t that fresh at all. It is full of chemicals that you don’t want to foul your clean laundry with. Some of these chemicals can even cause health problems!

To get your towels back to their fluffy selves, you’ll need a different product – but it’s something you probably already own! Go to the next page to read all about this trick.
