Democratic People’s Republic
Although officially a Democratic People’s Republic, North Korea has very little to do with a democracy: the state is a dictatorship and currently the most oppressive state in the world. Human rights have no meaning here. Any expressed criticism of the government is brutally punished. All media (television, radio) are checked and censored by the state. None of the citizens of North Korea are allowed to leave the state. If a person violates the rules and is sentenced to death (which is not uncommon), they are publicly executed.
Deserted city
If you’re imagining the crowded and busy streets of China when you think of North Korea, you will be surprised by the ghost town that this country really is. No wonder: behave conspicuously in the eyes of the government or the soldiers and you will be punished severely. By the way, visitors from abroad are only allowed to travel with a so-called guide and are constantly monitored.
