Down in the engine room, Chief Engineer Tomas had an idea, risky, but their only shot. The ship had a rarely used “silent drift” mode for emergency breakdowns. It cut all power and used ballast shifts to float with the current, no engine, no signature.
With the captain’s order, the entire ship went dark. Lights off. Radar offline. Engine cut. The massive container ship silently slipped into the darkening sea like a ghost.
To make the trick work, they needed one more thing, fog. And fate delivered.
