No one has ever conjured up such an apartment from an old bus.

Converting an airplane or an old bus is in right now; or so it seems. But it’s no wonder: living an independent life, owning few material things, living cheaply and, above all, living more sustainably – that’s the focus these days. Why not live on wheels?

Jesse Lipskin of New York reports.

The decision

Jesse had been looking for the right RV for quite a while. She wanted to be able to live and travel independently. Since buying a ready-made motorhome turned out to be a bit difficult, Jesse decided to buy a plain old bus on eBay. She wanted to have this old GMC bus (1966) converted completely according to her ideas.

Remodel

First, of course, everything had to come out. The seats, interior walls, bus poles, partitions – everything had to come out. When Jesse saw the now empty bus, she knew that this would be her dream apartment. Of course, she had thought everything through in advance and made a plan. But what she didn’t realize… the remodeling would take a total of 3 years.
