16. Their head must be covered

Amish women must always wear a bonnet. Showing off beautiful, flowing hair -just like uncovered arms and legs- would lead to too much temptation. The bonnet can only be removed in closed-off, private situations, like doing laundry. Any time an Amish woman goes outside or can be seen in any way, her head must be covered.
