A Road You Don’t Gamble With
Deep beneath the Swiss mountains lies one of Europe’s busiest and most dangerous traffic arteries. Strict regulations and hefty fines exist for one reason only: to prevent disaster. Yet some drivers still think they can outsmart the rules. That was the case when a motorcyclist decided to overtake 47 vehicles in a single tunnel stretch, an act that stunned other drivers and led to one of the harshest punishments possible.
A Reckless Overtake That Made Headlines
In late August 2025, a motorcyclist sped through a Swiss tunnel, overtaking two trucks and forty-five cars in one continuous maneuver. Police officers were already waiting at the exit. His punishment was immediate and severe: a lifetime driving ban in Switzerland and a fine estimated at around €13,000. Fines in Switzerland are income-based, and the cost for each illegal maneuver is approximately €270. In addition, the man now faces a criminal case for dangerous driving and possibly driving in an unfit state.
