Ten minutes later, the quiet street was illuminated by flashing red and blue lights. Officer Henderson stepped out of his patrol car, eyeing the smashed sedan wrapped around the light pole before walking up Arthur's front steps. He looked at the scorched dummy parcel, then at Arthur, who was standing quietly on the porch holding a fresh flash drive.
"Mr. Russell," Henderson said, taking a breath. "Care to explain what happened here?" Arthur handed him the flash drive with a calm, steady hand. "A guy tried to steal a package. He tripped an acoustic alarm, panicked, and unmasked himself directly in front of my high-resolution camera. Photos of his face are on that drive, along with the registration of the vehicle currently wrapped around your street pole."
Henderson looked at the smashed car, then down at the drive, letting out a low, disbelieving laugh. "Well... that certainly changes the solvability metrics."
