A Seal Climbed Onboard Her Boat and Refused to Leave — Once She Realized Why, It Broke Her Heart.

Hannah whipped her head toward the stern. A massive, gray head had broken the surface, dripping with cold seawater. Long, rigid whiskers twitched, and two pitch-black eyes locked directly onto hers. It was a wild harbor seal—and it was enormous. Easily weighing over two hundred pounds, the animal was throwing its muscular body onto the small swim platform at the back of the boat.

Adrenaline surged through Hannah’s veins. Fear, sharp and cold, replaced her earlier calm. People often viewed seals as playful, gentle ocean creatures, but Hannah knew better. They were powerful apex predators with sharp teeth and immense jaw strength. A single bite from a defensive wild seal could shatter bone and inflict severe, flesh-eating bacterial infections known as seal finger.

"Hey! Get down!" she shouted, her voice trembling as she backed up against the cabin door. The seal ignored her. It dug its front flippers into the fiberglass, letting out a harsh, desperate bark that echoed across the open water. It was coming aboard.
