Sarah stood frozen, her muscles locked in terror. But no human stepped out. Driven by an overwhelming surge of adrenaline, she finally summoned the courage to take a step forward and look directly into the kitchen. She expected a weapon, or a masked face. Instead, low to the ground, she saw a large, amorphous black ball of fur. It was moving frantically, but in the dim morning light of the kitchen corners, she had absolutely no idea what she was looking at.
Before her brain could process the bizarre shape, the creature exploded into motion. It bolted past her legs with shocking speed, darting straight out of the kitchen and into the main hallway. Sarah gasped, instinctively spinning on her heels. The mysterious entity was too fast to clearly identify, a dark blur tearing across her rugs. Panic turned into a surreal, chaotic pursuit as she found herself running right behind it, desperate to see what kind of creature had breached the security of her home. What in the world is this thing? She thought.
