K9 Keeps Barking at Hay Bales… Officer Turns Pale When He Cuts One Open

Desiring to clear Duke’s growing restlessness in the cruiser, Ryan popped the rear door to let the dog stretch his legs while they worked. As Ryan turned back, Carl began to launch into another friendly story about his morning. "Hold that thought for just a second," Ryan smiled, walking toward the tail of the trailer.

The instant Duke’s paws hit the gravel, the dog bolted. He sprinted straight past the tires and leaped high onto the stacked trailer, landing squarely on top of the central hay bales. Duke began to bark frantically, his tail shaking in hard, fast side-to-side bursts.

"Sorry about that," Ryan chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck as he looked up. "He usually doesn't jump onto cargo." Carl laughed, adjusting his hat with a carefree grin. "Hey, no problem at all, Officer! Looks like he just wanted to get up high and enjoy the view of the valley!" Ryan called up to the dog. "Duke, down! Come!" Duke didn't move.
