The boy pulled a folded hospital map from his pocket and spread it across the table with trembling hands. One route was marked in blue pen. It led from St. Anne’s Medical Center to Station 42.
Leo asked, “Is Soline at the hospital?” The boy nodded hard, then touched his own throat and chest. He opened his mouth without sound and made a small, strained motion, as if showing someone struggling to breathe.
The crew exchanged worried looks. A child had walked out of a hospital alone in a storm. Leo could not simply follow him without checking. Maya called St. Anne’s while Leo stayed beside the boy. The hospital confirmed that a child named Toby was missing from the family waiting area. Toby shook his head hard when Leo mentioned waiting. He pointed to Leo, then the clipping, then the hospital map. He needed Leo to come now.
