Find People Who Might Own a Copy
Former classmates are often your best bet for finding the photograph. Search Facebook for the school’s name, followed by words such as “memories,” “former students,” “reunion,” or the decade you attended. Local community and history groups can also be surprisingly helpful.
Post a clear request. Include the school, town, approximate year, teacher, and class. You might write: “I am looking for a class photo from St. Andrew’s School, around 1976, with Mrs. Taylor.” That gives people enough information to recognize the photo. Avoid sharing your full date of birth, old address, or other personal details.
You don't need to find everyone. One former classmate may still know several others, or may have inherited a box of photographs from a parent. Siblings can be helpful too, especially if several children from the same family attended the same school. When someone responds, ask if they can scan or take a clear photograph of the image. If classmates can’t help, the next step is to contact the people who may have kept official copies.
