Breathing fast, Katie quickly explained the unbelievable situation. “Peter, a wild elephant burst into the hospital lobby. It brought in a tiny, injured animal that I put in the ER but now the elephant has literally herded me out into the woods. I’m following it right now.” There was a long, stunned silence on the other end of the line as Peter tried to process the information.
“Katie, listen to me, that is incredibly dangerous,” he urged, his voice tight with panic. “Wild elephants are completely unpredictable, especially if they are stressed or protecting something. Stop walking and stay exactly where you are. I’m tracking your phone’s GPS and coming to you right now.” Katie paused, looking up at the towering silhouette of the giant beside her. The elephant let out a low, impatient rumble, nudging her shoulder forward once again. The urgency was simply too much to ignore. She couldn’t stop now; she had to trust the giant.
