Nicole finally allowed herself to collapse against Mike, wrapping him in a relieved hug. “I thought you were going to be killed,” she confessed, her voice trembling. Mike pressed a shaky kiss to her hair, thanking her for saving him by calling the rangers.
One by one, the poachers were led away in handcuffs, furious and humiliated. The rangers combed through the camp, uncovering additional snares, illegal weapons, and evidence of trafficking. Mike felt a surge of anger at the cruelty. But tonight, at least, justice was served.
