Sarah immediately dialed her brother. When Julian answered, his voice sounded strangely breathless, but he listened quietly as she explained she was standing on the porch without her copy of the keys.
“Oh! Right, the renovation keys,” Julian stammered after a long, heavy pause. “Yeah, I have my copy right here. Listen, Sarah, I’m actually trapped at a business conference three hours away. Could you possibly postpone your visit for a few days until I can drive down and bring you my set?”
Sarah was slightly disappointed, but she didn’t want to cause friction now that they were finally close again. “That’s fine,” she replied. “I’ll just grab a room nearby somewhere.” Julian sounded immensely relieved. “Perfect. Enjoy the beach, and I’ll call you the second I’m free.”
