Get The Fuzz Off A New Roller Before It Hits Your Wall
There's nothing more annoying than finishing a section of freshly painted wall and noticing tiny fibers stuck all over the surface. The frustrating part is that the roller itself was brand new. New roller covers can sometimes have loose fibers that come away during the first few passes. Once those fibers are covered in wet paint, they become stuck to your wall and can be surprisingly difficult to remove without disturbing the finish.
Luckily, you can deal with the problem before you ever start painting. Grab some painter's tape and wrap it around the roller cover with the sticky side facing outward. Press it around the roller and peel it away. Repeat the process a few times, using fresh sections of tape as necessary. The adhesive grabs many of those loose fibers before they have a chance to end up in your paint.
It's a tiny bit of preparation that takes almost no time, but it can save you from discovering a fuzzy mess halfway through painting. Because once the roller is loaded with paint, fixing the problem becomes considerably more annoying. A few seconds with painter's tape can make the first coat go much more smoothly.
